The International Teacher Training course <\/strong><\/a>for ESL provides fun learning activities to teach English to the adults, <\/em>which the candidate will be trained under this course.<\/p>\n

Here are some engaging activities to try with adult learners:<\/p>\n

  1. Real-life experiences:\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Tell your students a short story about your previous weeks\u2019 vacation, then tell them to ask you questions like where you went for a vacation? What did you see? Etc. So that your students can learn how to clarify more details about the questions which come into their mind.<\/p>\n

    1. The essentials:<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Write down some topics or situations on the board, ask students to write down 10 items that are related to the topic or are required for the situation. Then, tell your students to say something about the topic by using those items. Place the students into groups so that they intellectually prepare the speech.<\/p>\n

      1. Interview with verbs:<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Share a list of verbs with the students and tell them to choose a famous person they want to interview. Instead of asking the normal interview questions, they have to add those verbs to create questions for that person.<\/p>\n

        1. Surveys:<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          It\u2019s an interesting learning technique, where students have to question other students in class. When a student finishes his question, the remaining student has to write down their answer accordingly. This way the students will develop their communication skills. The students have to focus on improving all four skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening.<\/em><\/p>\n

          1. Describe a picture:<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Show a picture to the class where several people are engaged in a variety of activities like park, concerts, etc. Ask each student to say something different about the picture. Get the students to talk about the people in that picture. Place each student into a small group and hand each group a different picture, tell them to write down as many things as possible they can notice about the picture.<\/p>\n

            1. One-minute speech:<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              Teach your students how to structure a speech, they have to have an introduction<\/em> where they talk about what they are going to speak about, the conclusion<\/em> where they can do a quick review and then a call to action. Tell your students to suggest more topics about which they want to prepare a speech or presentation for a given time frame, by doing this the students have to talk a lot and speak quickly in a limited time thus increasing their fluency, strength and confidence.<\/p>\n
